  1. that their beer is quite possibly better than bavarian!

  2. They are Germans, of course.

The differnce? Well, the dialect, that this is the richest part of Germany, that the politicians there still make their decisions like they were the King of Bavaria (by the way, there is a party with the programm to get the king back for Bavaria), they are VERY catholic.

But you´ll find this difference North/South in almost every country you´ll look at.

Dialects? Well, go to the small islands in Germnay´s North and you won´t understand a word either.

Except for the beer - for me Bavaria has the best cuisine and the nicest coldcuts!!!!!!!

  3. Bavaria is indeed somehow different from Germany. Bavarians seem far more mellow and forgiving than most of the Germans, are less obsessed with precision, and more likely to simply shrug something off and forget about it, when Germans will lock horns and insist on discussing an issue until one side concedes defeat.

I find Bavarians to be closer to the Italians in mentality than to the Germans, which is often mirrored in their looks, by the way (many Bavarians are of dark complexion, look mediterranean - because of the Roman influence 2000 years ago).

Having said all those mellow things, I have also experienced that Bavarians can get really hot-headed by comparison with the sometimes icily level-headed Germans, so getting one angry may be something you will end up finding yourself in a physical altercation for before long.

I'm not sure who I'd rather live with in the long run.

Germans are pleasantly reasonable and do their utmost to come across as cultured and well-read, but can be tedious.

Bavarians are good fun as long as you leave them in their comfort zone and don't challenge their viewpoints.

  4. Tipper Bore: 10 points.

The only thing I'd like to add is that the bavarians are very conservative, when it comes to different lifestyles (for instance: homosexuality) just like the people from Texas and they are pretty religious, too.

  5. I don't see any different only the dialect.

  6. its a funny question but they are germans like anywhere else in deutschland....bravaria is only a region that germans live in....and me of course  :-)

  7. Bavaria is to Germany as Texas is to the US.

    In the South.

    Funny accent.

    Funny hats.

    Big economy.

Influence greater than their numbers would seem to merit.

See themselves as their own country.

Actually used to be their own country.

  8. For germans not living in Bavaria it is often annoying that foreigners think that bavaria = germany. For example the german beer fests everywhere in the world. Noone really knows, that it is a bavarian tradition.

They simply ignore the other parts, which also have old traditions, different dialect and so on.

The reason that most foreigners (mainly from the US) think that bavaria = germany is, that after WW2 the US Troops were, the occupying power in bavaria. And still today there are many US-Bases, so that many US-Soldiers have been to Germany, or better: to Bavaria!!

Where I live, in the northwestern part of germany, the brits have been the occupying power.
