The more details the better.

  1. Read.

  2. When my mom is on break (she's also a teacher), her favourite thing to do is crafts. Last year, she made picture frames out of quartz she found on the beach. It takes a lot longer than it sounds, at least for her.

  3. I would suggest you go on a real vacation.   I love having 18 weeks vacation a year.   Right now I am writing a text and a couple of articles.

But I am going away for a few weeks - going to take in the College World Series.     Then I'm coming back home and revise my text (after the editor gets done with it).   If we can get decent air fares a few friends and I are going to Italy and the Mediterranean Islands (and Greece) for the last week in July and first two weeks in August.    Then its back to work.

  4. I thought homemaking was such ardous, painstakingly difficult, honorable, invaluable, necessary, underappreciated, precious...........

       W O R K!     ?

How would they ever have so much freetime as to conside being bored with all that WORK they do?

  5. Clean, cook, garden, sew, do their own hobbies, take care of children, bake, read, watch tv, run errands, etc.

  6. First you cook breakfast for your husband before he leaves for work, you also make coffee, depending on if he likes it, that means you might have to get up pretty early, make sure you wash the dishes

Throughout the day the following tasks need to be completed

Kids to school with breakfast in their tummies and lunch in their hands (if applicable), must be dressed and pressed and taken to the school or bus stop

Don't forget to full up while your out

Go to the grocery store and by groceries for the week

Take them home and put them up

Clean up the house entirely, collect all the laundry

Clean the laundry and depending if your husband comes home for lunch, start making that while clothes wash, take a shower

After clothes was, dry and fold and hang up, gotta keep it neat

Make the bed if you haven't done so and make sure all your kids rooms are neat as well

After lunch is made for you or you and your hubby, eat it and make sure you clean up

Give your husband some nookie if he wants it

After he leaves you need to take another shower

Clean up the kitchen and prep everything you need to prep for dinner

Sit down and relax for an hour or two, or until the kids need to be picked, up, dropped off

Get the kids, greet the kids

Get them settled, to do their home work, fix them a snack..

Check their home work, make sure dinner is on the stove

Put kids in their rooms to play and make them selves tired before dinner

Greet husband, help him unwind, ask him about his day while going back and forth from the kitchen  to the kids room

Have the kids wash their faces and hands

finish up dinner, call everyone to the table

Make everyones plate, prep kitchen for clean up, make your plate

Sit down, have husband say grace, eat and talk

Have kids clear table, depending on age, have kids wash dishes and clean kitchen, if too young get up and clean kitchen, unless their is dessert, then you need to serve that

Clean up dishes and kitchen, let kids play a little longer until an hour before bed time

Have kids take bath or if too young, give kids bath

Dress them for bed, put them to bed

Go where husband is, talk to him some more, unwind and enjoy each others company, have s*x, go to bed

Repeat all steps except grocery shopping and filling up the gas tank.  Only do these as they apply...that was fun

  7. whatever you feel like, honey take a class that relates to a hobby or interest of yours. visit distant friends or family members. h**l sleep til noon every day and do nothing. the important thing is to have fun and be free til it's time to go back to school, take a lesson from your students and just live for the day!

  8. Rent all the "Lost"episodes an try an figure it out.

  9. do some projects around the house...

plant a garden, make a compost pile, paint a few rooms, catch up on things you've put off for a while...

or maybe take a class you're interested in...

  10. When I was a child, I saw women either keep their babies in cribs or playpens, send their pre-school children outside to play, and send their older children off to school. Then they spent the day fixing their hair and fingernails, talking on the phone, watching TV, and getting together with their friends. If they had some extra time, they would clean house. People lived in smaller houses back then so they were much easier to keep clean.

  11. You've said it yourself - you will be on 'vacation'.  So why in heaven's name are you fretting about what to do....?

You'll be amazed at how well you will feel emotionally, physically and intellectually when you have time without a schedule.  Without an alarm clock.  Enjoy your mornings, especially.  We don't ever, generally, take time for ourselves these days - but the mornings are now set aside for me and my thoughts.  I sit with my coffee, a pad and paper, and plan out my day.  Sometimes, the pad remains empty...sometimes, its full.  But the bottom line is that I don't have a 'schedule'...and that makes all the difference.

We are conditioned to feel that we must 'accomplish' things - that we must be busy.  I suggest you work on removing that thought from your mind - and when you do get back to work, you will be able to carry that thinking forward to your weekends.  I promise - you will live longer and happier, when you know how to enjoy 'down time'.

Sorry this wasn't a detailed list of 'what to do'...but thats exactly my point!

  12. the month will go by so fast..just enjoy the days off !

  13. Go camping!!  Enjoy your time off, just partake in things that you enjoy doing, it's that simple!

  14. Do everything nice for your husband.

  15. To the question of what to homemakers do all day ?  spend time on Yahoo ! Answers of course.  I did like the answer that basically said to do something creative for yourself, i.e. musically, artistically, craft-like, anything challenging, adventuresome , stimulating, something different.  I hope you find something like that to do.  All the best to you.

  16. It will be summer so take up a new outdoor hobby, two of my favs are rock climbing and hiking. Makes you feel good to being out in nature.

  17. Most homemakers are parents too.

A month with no work, I'd say have a month of pure relaxation and doing exactly what you want! Enjoy the holiday, make time to do things that you've wanted to like any new hobbies, visiting freinds/family etc.

  18. I question your sincerity as to whether you really are a teacher, or at least educated, if you have to ask what homemakers do all day.

Homemakers, usually women, take care of the home and its inhabitants.  Sometimes there are young children to clean, bath, dress, and get off to school, sometimes taking them personally.  Then there is breakfast, lunches, and dinners to prepare.  Laundry, vacuuming, scrubbing toilets, making beds, cleansing the house, doing the marketing, picking children up from school, and then spending time, if there is any left and any energy left, with a significant other.

I have probably left out quite a bit, because quite a bit is what a homemaker normally does.  Unfortunately, sometimes without any gratification for doing it.

  19. do some thing youve never done before- i dont know what- maybe going to the antarctic or chasing torrnedos if there are some somewhere around (there are vacation packages  which advertise those) or do some landscaping

  20. Make homes.

  21. Hello,

How are you?  I am a work at home wife and mother.  Now I don't know what interests you, or what it is that you enjoy doing,  but I am a home based travel agent, and a Mary Kay consultant.  Just a suggestion.  Here's another suggestion, since you are on vacation, why don't you take one.  I'm sure that you will enjoy yourself.  God Bless.

  22. The clue is in the title- you have a "vacation" so go on "vacation"!

  23. 1. Deal with the home accounting;

    2. Devise new and tasty recipes for all the family to enjoy, rather than simple meals.

    3. Shop with care (thereby saving money) rather than shopping in a lunch hour, or after work.

    4. D.I.Y.

    5. Watching TV.

    6. Local politics.

    7. Trips to the park with the kids.

    8. Learning C++

    Don't do all these simultaneously.

  24. I have a 4 month break from Uni, should get a job but I've been quite good with my loan i'm far from skint. I'm personally going to be reading a lot, getting a tan, a few outings to the beach with some beer if I can rally enough mates together at the same time. I'll be playing a lot of guitar, need to get back into writing (poetry, short stories, screenplays), and I might move my room around, get my bed nearer my window for hot summer nights. Oh, and I plan on getting fit, 24km cycle a day.

Edit: Yeah, I don't think it would be worth it either, i'm sure the time will fly by, aslong as you don't turn on the TV in the middle of the day.

  25. Chase after kids, laundry, housework, library activities, work on tan, work out, gardening, sewing, craft projects for Christmas, start halloween costumes.

  26. I am a fulltime housewife, mother of two.  My eight year old is in school, my hubby works and I have a toddler at home.  So my day is pretty busy, with housework, washing, cooking, childminding, (I work from home as a childminder), shopping and then I come on here for a bit of me time.

I am sure you will find something to do.

  27. Right mrs. and as you know I am a cardinal for the Catholic church.. Don't kid yourself ; F.Y.I. homemakers clearly do much more than you due to the frequency of your name appearing on y.a.!

  28. It must be hard to shift gears from full time work to full time at home.   You probably have systems for efficient cleaning , shopping and cooking that work well year round, so use this month off as an opportunity to take on a project that you feel you "never have time for" when you are working.

    Here are a few ideas:

Choose a room to paint and apply a faux finish.

Buy a bushel of tomatoes and make sauce and salsa to enjoy through the winter.

Bake dozens of cookies and muffins and freeze them.  Send a couple dozen to your local nursing home or to an elderly shut-in neighbor.

Create a new flower bed in your yard, or dig out an old one and plant all new plants.

Buy an old piece of furniture at an estate sale and refinish or or paint it to fit your home decor.

    HAVE FUN!!!

  29. Have fun.I am a homemaker( 2 boys ages 2 and 8) and I start everyday at 6:00am(even Sunday). As homemaker(on a weekend) I make breakfast then wash up the dishes, sweep and put a load of clothes in the washer) I then get the baby washed and dressed(my older boy does this himself).I get myself dressed and we go to the park(if it raining we usually turn on some tunes and sing and dance). We come back from the park and I make lunch, put the laundry in the dryer do up the dishes and we head out to the backyard for some fun.I love to play in  the dirt with my boys.....usually my oldest is off with friends. So we play till 2 then we walk the dog. That's the fun part of what i do.I as a homemaker have alot to do like driving the kids to their activities and doing errors.I also have allot of cleaning and cooking.
