So i need some advice. My parents are forcing me to go to a new school. I have been homeschooled all my life and my mom has to work full time. I'm begining to get depressed and i've tryed talking to them about doing a part time school or DVD's for school at home. I cant bear school!

And i'm unhappy all the time and i'm not eating very good.

What can i do to talk them into letting me be homeschooled

again? I've tryed everything! HELP!!

  1. Here's a great article about talking to your parents about homeschooling. http://virtualonlineschool.blogspot.com/

Above all, be respectful and try to talk facts with them without whining. Remember they are on your team and they are trying to do what they think is best. Give them some good information in support of homeschooling.

    Best of Luck!

  2. You need to get out into the world and just live life! Put your past behind you, and focus on change! Don't be a hindrance to kids at your school, and don't hurt their feelings!!

  3. Gosh, apparently miss negative nancy pointyears knows lots of homeschoolers and seems to think they are a 'hindrance' to other students and like to 'hurt their feelings'.  Yeah, you might want to disregard her answer....

If you are high school age (or even a little younger) you could always school yourself!  You can be in charge of what you learn, when you learn, and how you learn!  Most homeschoolers  that I know do this anyway.  Not only do most curriculums come with set units of study, you could also use the library and make up your own curriculum.

Try to eat something!  Not eating is not the answer and may cause you harm.  Research curriculums or plan out your own, make a schedule, write a paper on the pros and cons of homeschooling and make sure you do your research.  Maybe even contact some people about things you want to be involved in like sports or music lessons.  Be sure to give your parents times and costs of your planned activities and try to take into account your parents schedule.  Don't just say you want to homeschool because you do.  Give sound facts as to why they should let you.  Make it into a presentation of sorts.  Just don't whine or try to bribe them.  Maybe they want you to finish out the semester.  Ask them if you could homeschool after Christmas, that way you can say you at least tried going to school.

I can't imagine how you feel though, I would have died if my parents had ever sent me to school!  I loved being homeschooled!

  4. I'm curious.  It sounds like you haven't even been to school yet.  Did I miss something?  Is it the size of the school, the unknown, or what?  Can you explain to your parents what it is that you don't like besides just that it's different?  If you haven't gotten past that, they may be worried that you really need to not be afraid of being with people your own age.  (Like, you may be convincing them of the opposite of what you want.)

Is full-time school because your mom has to go to work?  If so, is there anyone else in your area being homeschooled?  (Most students being homeschooled at least go on field trips with other homeschooled students, so you might know some people.  Or you could check with your school district.)

Why don't you ask your parents if there are any alternatives, if they can discuss this with you, and if you can re-evaluate the situation periodically?

  5. I am sure that your parents would have continued to home school you if they could but seeing that they have decided to send you to public school I think that you should accept it and use the knowledge you have gained at home to excel in school. You are older, more educated and better able to deal with the pressures of public life. Think of it as your introduction to the world of work. If you spend one semester there and it is still unbearable then you can speak to your parents again.
