Personally, I don't let others tell me who I'm friends with.

If the old friend doesn't like the new friend, so what?  Do things with them separately, not together.

Don't discuss the new friend with the old friend and vice-versa.

It shouldn't be a big deal. If it is, maybe you should re-evaluate that friendship and that person's motives.

It could be your old friend is simply worried that you won't be friends with them.  Reassure them that you will continue to be friends, and that their friendship is important to you.

Your older friend probably wants to protect you.  In which case you should ask her what she sees that you're missing.

But If she's threatened and doesn't want to share you, just stay loyal and time will let her know you are still her friend.

See them separately and never make mention of one in front of the other.  Make it clear that your  friendship with one will not impede on the  other SO LONG as neither of them make mention of the  other.

To do so would be rude.
