  3. Newborn tadpoles that I have seen still have their egg-sack in their bellies.  Whether they eat or not during that very early phase, I do not know, I presume they are only absorbing that egg-sack.

    When their legs start to develop, they begin to look for some sort of food, perhaps algea.  They still have that little round mouth as they grow until they develop legs, and I have seen that large tadpoles will eat smaller tadpoles!

  4. Tadpoles first consume their yolk sacks. Then they eat algae and decaying plants. They may also eat dead animal matter. You can feed them fish food like firephoenixfire said and float small pieces of romaine lettuce for them to nibble.
