I have been thinking of redoing my room for quite a while now, and I recently bought a vera bradley lamp with a java brown shade.

I was wondering how my room would look if I painted it brown, with a thin stripe at the top or bottom light blue.

would it look good?

would it look my room look bigger/smaller?

should I put the stripe at the top or bottom, or no light blue stripe?

is brown a bad color?

you dont have to answer all of the questions, just what you think!

thanks,

  1. Hi Lilly  ~what a pretty lamp!  I think those colors would be quite striking. . . but I'd hesitate doing the whole room in brown.  Unless your room is exceptionally big, it probably will feel smaller.  Maybe doing a "feature wall" in the brown, then using the lightest blue for the other walls.  But hey, it's paint.

Do it however you think you'll like it.  If you decide you don't want the stripe (or do want the stripe) -just paint it!  I've done a whole room before, then decided it needed to be a different shade. . not too big of a deal.  Just have fun with it and you'll get your perfect look.

If the brown does turn out to be too dark for you, find a pretty tan that blends just right with the lamp shade.  That might give you the same look, just in a lighter sense.

Good luck!  If you do as well with the room as you did with the lamp, it will be gorgeous!!
