  1. it doesnt really mean anything. like the name anna doesnt mean anything. my sisters named that and we call her tunia. :)

  2. The traditional spelling is Anastasia and as the previous answer said the most famous was the Grand Duchess Anastasia, youngest daughter of Tsar Nicholas II.

Alas, she didn't survive the firing squad and died along with the rest of her family.  The woman who claimed to be her for many years (Anna Anderson) was actually a Polish Factory Worker.

The skeletons of the Romanov family were found a few years ago (with two missing - most likely Tsarvitch Alexei and Grand Duchess Maria - but I seem to remember reading that they had recently found those bodies too).

Anastasia / Annastasia is a beautiful name.

  3. Im not sure what it means, It said on some website it meant ressurection.

however back in russia there was a famous princess called your name, she was supposedly executed with the rest of her family in the russian revolution, although there is a rumor still today that she escaped.

Its a real intresting story, your lucky, i think your grandmother named you after her,

here's the link its a emotional story

    Last name origins & meanings:

Italian: from the personal name Anastasia, feminine form of Anastasio. Anastasia was a popular personal name in medieval southern Europe because of the cult of a 4th-century saint who was martyred at Sirmium in Dalmatia. She was widely venerated, especially in the Eastern Church.
