What does DD & DS mean?

i have seen it a few times in others answers and others question and i was just wondering what it actually meant

dear.darling daughter/son.

I personally just say my son/daughter.

There is also DH which is Husband

Darling/Dear Son

I personally prefer to type out the words "my son," but that's just me.
