  1. IV means intravenous, that is, within the veins.  As a noun it means an intravenous injection or drip.

  2. An IV is an intravenous line that is meant to send medication or glucose to a patient.  A needle has to be put into the patients arm and then an attachment with a tube that delivers the fluid from a plastic bag above the patient.  These are kept in the cabinet with all other medical devices.  There is no such thing as an iv team.  It is done by one individual person, nurse or technician.  Hope I helped you!

  3. IV means intravenous...a drip is also called an IV drip...i dont think there are set IV teams as all nurses are required to be competent in doing IV's. as for where they are kept it would depend on the perticular hospital/ward.

  4. Intravenous therapy - It means giving the person liquid substances like medication or water straight into their vains.

  5. Intra Venous as in into the vein; this is a route of administration.

  6. Iv in nursing means intravenous meaning Thur the veins

  7. Intravenous= into the vein

  8. IV = intraveinous

IV team - a team of nurses set up by a particular hospital who have particular training, talent and skill at placing IV catheters.  Sometimes they are assigned to check the condition of all of the IV's in their area each shift.

IV sets are usually kept in a locked supply room or in the locked medication room.

  9. IV is intravenous, meaning in the vein.

  10. IV = intravenous, i.e., insert a small teflon cather into the vein for the purpose of administering fluid and/or electrolytes. Some hospitals use teams of nurses or paramedical types to start all IVs on the theory that they will have the best skills and adhere to proper protocols because that is all they do all day. There may be some research that supports that contention, but I could not attest to that. IV Sets, or IV "trays" are basically plastic tote buckets that you might use in the garden to carry your tools. But in the case of IVs. they contain a supply of IV cathers of various sizes and types, rolls of adhesive tape used to secure the catheter, solution to clean the skin, topical anesthetic such as lidocaine to numb the injection site, latex gloves, dressings of some sort (2x2 guaze pads or bandaids)and usually a rubber tube used as a "tourniquet" to impede the flow of venous blood, thereby making the veins engorge for easier penetration.

Or I guess they might be alluding to the components of an IV setup: a bag of sterile fluid, administration set (tubing with a drip chamber), and the catheter which is inserted into the vein.

I should have stopped when I was ahead :)
