What does a industrial engineer do?

Can someone explain to me what it is? Is it a good profession to go into?

Industrial engineers work with flow. Industrial engineers optimize how product flows through space. Such as optimizing the path of packages at a mailing plant i.e, UPS or Fed Ex. I believe they do some statistical work as well.

Personally, I think it is boring ... that is why I am a MechE.

The industrial engineers works basically in the design, organization and improvement of integrated systems of people, materials, machinery, equipment and energy, but their workplaces are several like maintenance, production, quality, management...
