What does intel centrino mean?

I see some laptops with centrino and some that just have the processor name.

Centrino is a platform-marketing initiative from Intel. It covers a particular combination of mainboard chipset, CPU and wireless network interface in the design of a laptop personal computer. Intel claimed that systems equipped with these technologies should deliver better performance, longer battery life and broad wireless network interoperability.

"Centrino" means that it uses an entire base Intel platform of a processor, chipset, and wireless card. Computers that have the name of the processor on them usually do not use Intel wireless cards.

While when you buy a typical laptop, the processor is usually Intel or AMD, the chipset is usually made VIA (or some other company), and the wireless card is usually made by Broadcom

In a centrino laptop, the processor is always a Pentium M processor, it has an Intel chipset, and an Intel wireless card, Centrino laptops are supposed to save on battery and and better performance
