a program called "Rar files"? What is it exactly & how will it help me? much obliged for your answers.

rar files are files that in 'compressed' format.. most of the files/programs from the internet are in this format to minimize size of program therefore minimizing download time. you must have WinRar in you computer to "unpacked" rar files.

Why are they compressed? To save space and cut down on file size. A lot of people use them because they can hold multiple files within them, and they're easy to organize.

Rar files has an extension of .rar and it is a compressed file. for example there is a game which is 1.5GB but you want to put it into a 700MB CD so you can compress the game with compressing software like WinRAR or Al-Zip or WinZip etc to 700 MB or less. these compressed files can have an extension of .rar

A RAR file is a file that is compressed using the RAR format. To use it properly you need to uncompress it (obviously).

To uncompress it, download WinACE, WinRAR or 7-ZIP. Install it and that will help sort out any problems.
