  1. Need more info if you could give the whole sentence if possible but this might help.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pro_forma

But for example a proforma invoice is the quote you receive before the actual invoice.

  2. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term pro forma (Latin "as a matter of form") is a term applied to practices that are perfunctory, or seek to satisfy the minimum requirements or to conform to a convention or doctrine.

A pro forma document is provided in advance of an actual transaction.

  3. I am a designer; I purchase "proforma" which means I PAY before the goods get ordered/manufactured/made/or shipped. AS opposed to "net 30" which means you can get the stuff and then have 30 days to pay after delivery (ie on manufacturer credit). Proforma x 3 may mean your first 3 orders are proforma & then they see you are to be trusted paying and can then get net 30 terms.

  4. 1. according to form; as a matter of form; for the sake of form.

    2. Commerce. provided in advance of shipment and merely showing the description and quantity of goods shipped without terms of payment: a pro forma invoice.

    3. Accounting. indicating hypothetical financial figures based on previous business operations for estimate purposes: a pro forma balance sheet.
