What does the Ohms mean?

I was looking at subs (Fi Car Audio) and it says Ohm: dual 1 or dual 2. and I dont know what that means? and if i have to wire it to the amp that has the same resistance? pleas help and thank you

Well first of all, FI audio is incredible, so I'm glad you're looking at that. Ohms are the resistance of impedance in a subwoofers connection between two circuits. Most subwoofers can run between 1 and 4 ohms, and some can go lower and even higher. The main focus is about how much power the amplifier can put out to the subwoofer or subwoofers. Amps can double in power when the ohms are cut in half. Such as having 4 ohms running gives you 400w RMS on a monoblock amp, and 2 ohms can give you 800w RMS. Dual connections give you possibility of more or less ohms. Dual 2 ohms can be run down to 1 or .5 ohms, but if it was single 2 ohms, it could only run at 1 or 2 ohms. More heat is generated from an amplifier the lower the ohms get though, so lifetime expectancy is shortened by a great deal. Check the amp also on its description, it can say how stable it is, such as 2 ohm stable amplifiers. Good luck I hoped this helped!

An Ohm is the electrical resistance in a circuit.

The amp will push a certain amount of power depending on the ohm load.

A dual ohm sub means it has two coils instead of one. The ONLY advantage is this gives you more wiring options over single coiled subs.

ohms is the resistance in an electrical system created by the conection of the 2 points and other resistors

An 'ohm' is a unit of resistance. Dual 1 and Dual 2 deal with wiring, not electricity. Don't worry about the amp.
