What does this mean.....?

Question

My work computer had a few categories blocked that I couldn't get to - which is fine, since I am at work. But, I went to look up an answer to a computer problem on Yahoo Answers. When I clicked on it I got a message that said "This Websense Category Message forums and blogs is being filtered."

It still lets me continue and go to the website - but this was never there before. What does this mean? It has never happened to me before when I went to look stuff up on Yahoo Answers in the past. I was just curious if someone could explain it to me. Does anyone know anything about the websense program? Just curious...

Websense is the filtering system your work uses to make sure you are not going to "bad" sites, and they get to determine what is "bad". It sounds like there were probably a lot of people going to that section of yahoo and so they blocked it, possibly because they felt it was inappropriate, but also possibly because they just felt their employees were spending too much time there. My work blocked ebay for that reason.

System Admins, I am one, can and do monitor web sites visited on work computers. Web sites and protocols can and are blocked. We can also block types of software that is run on the domain. This is a legal requirement and company policy in most LAN's.

You do not have the "rights" on the LAN to be able to change this.

all websites are being filtered at work, they may be logging it and they will be able to see where and what you do on the internet while at work.  

it is possible it will not let you view anything with swear words or pics.

While at work, behave as if your boss is always standing behind you while you are on the internet, EVERYTHING IS LOGGED to use against you later if they need to.
