  1. does it mean, children are a blessing all year round...<^><...

  2. I agree that its figurative; I think it means that when you have children in your life, you will have lovely surprises when you least expect them.  Sort of like seeing roses in bloom in the middle of the winter.

  3. I think it means that when you are old you can still enjoy life because your children are blooming and in the prime of their life December meaning your time on earth is nearly done.

  4. maybe children are like roses? and they dont die in december? (usually)

  5. its because kids are something so special, and roses don't bloom that time of year in my country.so its the miracle of life.something good happen to you when you would normally not have it...

  6. When you are old and can no longer care for yourself in the December of your life your children are the roses in their spring who will care for you.

  7. Sometimes the human lifespan is compared to a year or a day. In this case, I think it means, At the end of your life, you will have beautiful growing things (children) around you.

  8. i presume it means happiness at xmas but i really don't know! just my thinking anyway

  9. flubster answer is trustworthy. But you should not waste away ur more important time to find out the original meaning. You may think the sentence is figaratively used.
