What does toll free mean?

does this mean whoever your calling pays the long distance and you get charged as if it was just a local call, so on your residential phone it would be like local and free

  4. Toll free means it's completely free of charge for the person who's making the call.  The call charge is covered by the person receiving the call.

    However, in the U.K if you call from a mobile phone a toll free landline number is charged at local mobile phone rate.  I don't know what it's like for other countries, it should be the same.

  7. yep.  You got it!  Toll free is when the number you are calling won't cost you in long distance charges.  It's like calling a neighbour down the street.
