What dog breeds should I consider?

Question

I want an affection not overly loud dog that's small-medium sized. What breed/s best fit this description?

FYI Note:I don't care where I get a pure bred or not, and will not support puppy mills.

PLEASE Just go to the shelter dear. You will feel very good for it.  They have many pure purebreds there. Go to a kill shelter too that way you save a life. I have an English springer spaniel mutt and every time we take him somewhere everyone asks us what breed he is. He is very affectionate and loves to be near people. He isn't Loud at all but he will let you know if there is someone at the door. He is a Medium- large dog. He is short not in any way as big as a German Shepard or anything but he weights 70 lbs (he is overweight we have him on a diet now) He looks EXCACTLY like this Purebred dog and we know for a fact he is not pure.

I think you could 1) go to the shelter. or there is a wonderful little dog called a basenji. They are cute and affectionate and get this they can't bark!!! They can growl, whimper ,whine, and make this weird screaming noise but they cannot bark and they don't scream often. It would be best if you got a young puppy and enrolled him in obedience classes or puppy kindegarten because they are kind of hard to train on your own. the vet gave my kids a jack russell when she was a pup,that if we didn't take her they was going 2 gas her,everytime we coe home,she always meets us at the door with a kiss and a pet on the head,she locvs 2 play ball,when u throw it at her.
