The following cars are all made in the same plant, Peugot 107, Citroen C1 and the Toyota Aygo. Does anyone know what engine these cars have? By this do they all have the same engine and is just the branding different? I don't really need to know about the engine statistics, just the make.

  1. They all have the same engines.

    The choices are:

1.0-litre petrol VVTi, developed and produced by Toyota

1.4-litre diesel, developed and produced in a joint venture between PSA-Peugeot-Citroën and Ford.

  2. Yes, they all have the same Toyota petrol engine or Ford diesel engine.

  3. All these cars are made in Kolin, Czech Republic, the engines are 1 L gas and 1.4 L diesel. Engine and vehicle development shared by Toyota and Peugeot. Same platform vehicles, some styling differences, but that's it.

  4. they all have small engines cos they are all reasonably small engines. i reckon 1litre engines. dis is good cos they burn less petrol :)

  5. petrol ones

  6. Yes, they all share the same engines - only trim & some lower body panels are changed.

The Peugeot isn't yet available with the diesel engine, just the 1.0i (badged VVTi on the Aygo)

The engines are made by PSA (Peugeot-Citroen-Renault group)

  7. The petrol engine is the Toyota 1.0 VVTi ( variable valve timing). It has been around a long time and is one of the most reliable small car engines.

A lot of car manufacturers nowadays share components, particularly engines to save money on development. The 1.4 diesel engine in these cars is a PSA( Peugeot )and Ford unit that you will find in many Ford, Renault, Peugeot, and Citroen cars.

The three cars are all made in the same factory to save costs and just have different trim- under the skin they are identical.

Other examples of this practise are the VW Sharan, Seat Alhambra and Ford Galaxy or the current Citroen C-Crosser, Peugeot 8007 and the Mitsubishi Outlander.

If you are choosing between the cars,  Toyota have the best dealers by a mile, but the Peugeot and Citroen offers seem to be better.

  8. The Peugeot 107, Citroën C1 and Toyota Aygo were jointly developed and are still manufactured in one factory at Kolin in the Czech Republic. Notwithstanding their slightly varying body styles and the different badges, they are essentially the same car. Only Peugeot 107 doesn't have diesel power.

    Engines:

    1.0 L 1KR-FE (998 cc) petrol I3, 68 PS (67 hp/50 kW) and 69 ft·lbf (94 N·m)

    1.4 L DV4 (1398 cc) HDi common rail turbodiesel I4, 55 PS (54 hp/40 kW) and 96 ft·lbf (130 N·m)

  9. all toyota.
