  1. its soy beans, they soak it, then squish it loads until it makes like a thick paste. Its then moulded into different shapes or whatever.

You can use it insted of pasta, potatoes and loads more.

It tastes really good, i went to china and they used and put it in a sweet chili sauce. It tastes really good!

I think you boil it, but i'm pretty sure you can bake it too.

    Enjoy!

  2. Tofu is a  low-calorie, high-protein, cholesterol-free food made of bean curd, which is made from the milky liquid extracted from soybeans. Tofu itself has no taste. But when made into something it transforms into that taste. (i.e desserts, tofu chicken, tofu steak, tofu fillets, tofu cutlets, BBQ tofu, stir-fried tofu, tofu fries, tofu fish, tofu scramble, tofu burgers, tofu cheese, tofu yogurt and ice cream, etc).

  3. It's soybean curd. It is good for you and can be wonderful if prepared properly. Many people get very turned off by it the first time they try it because it wasn't prepared correctly. It can be incredibly bland.

Silken or soft tofu can be used as a replacement for milk/flour in chowder type soups, as a thickener/cream in dips and sauces, or in desserts.  You wouldn't even know it was there in these recipes.

Firm tofu is more for entree and savory dishes. To correct the flavor/texture of firm tofu I slice it, drizzle with EVOO and soy sauce, and bake at 400F for 20-30 minutes.

  4. soybeans, 'meat' for vegos, healthy, tastes pretty ok. :)

  5. Tofu is fermented soy beans, and yes you can make it. It is made very much like the process of cheese, using vinegar or lemon juice.

  6. Beancurd. Ie soy processed a certain way.

Im not a huge fan but its a good addition to a veggo diet as its the only non animal source of 'complete protein' obtainable in one food (you can gain enough from other sources you just need variety)

    I like:

Avocado Guaccamole with chili, lemon juice and silken tofu blended in. YUM

Desserts such as home made icecream/yoghurtish things. I like to get creative and make stuff up

You can put pureed tofu in cakes for a denser texture. Go for silken for all these (not firm)

scrambled tofu (done like eggs) just add some soy sauce for flavor and eat on nice grainy bread with tomato slices cooked in the pan and fresh basil

  7. Tofu is soybean curd.  There's Chinese (water-packed) tofu, which can be used for stir-fries, grilling, baking, frying, etc.  There's also Japanese (silken), which comes in an aseptic box, and that can be used for puddings, creamy sauces, creamy soups, as an egg replacer, and cubed into miso soup.

I think tofu is pretty good.  I love the stuff and cook with it regularly.  It's an excellent source of protein, low-fat, relatively low-carb, and quite versatile.

  8. soy, right?

i haven't had a lot of it, but what i've had has been really good.

  9. It's made from soybeans.  There's a ton of different ways to use it and cook it, just do a quick web search for tofu recipes.  Basically it's tasteless and will take on the flavor of the other foods you cook it with.

  10. I like fried tofu, (white tofu fried in vegetable oil untill it turn yellow).

eat it with chili souce....very nice.

  11. From what I know Tofu is a form of soy. I've never had it.

  12. Tofu is also called a bean card.It is made of fermented soy bean puree. It is high source of  protein. It is very good to your health.Vegetarians eat this to have more protein intakes substitute to the meat.

  13. made with soybeans.. it's good cuz of the protein.

i personally like to slice it then fry it till crispy, and put a lil salt on it.
