  1. you could get a dragon goby but they grow to be two feet but by that time you will probably have a bigger aquarium

  2. Take out the parrotfish. It will be torn apart.

Also, I hope this 'aquarium that has enough room' is AT LEAST 150 gallons.

  3. a midas or a red devil will be ok, be careful with the blood parrot they are not as aggressive it may be picked on.

  4. You should get a Green Terror :] They are very nice in color and will do well with your selected fishes.

I have the Green Terror housing with 2 tiger Oscars, 2 Jack Dempsey, and a Pleco. I'm planning to get a Blood Parrot and a Severum. And the Electric Blue is an African cichlid so It might not work out in your South American tank.

  5. Dragon gobies are brackish water fish, the others you mentioned are not.  So, no those aren't suitable.

What exactly is the tank size?

  6. I don't know who advised you to stock these fish but I can see you are going to have problems already.

Ok, so based on your list, you couldn't just say you're getting a 210 gallon tank??

You're Jack Dempsey should have about the same amount of space as a single Oscar which is about 75 gallons, however, someone very poorly advised you to put an Oscar and Jack Dempsey togeather.  This research you've done I think wasn't as fine tuned as it should be.  Could you please post the sites you've looked over that advocate stocking two large SA cichlids like this?

Ok so let's talk about these two.

A Jack Dempsey is a rule the tank type of cichlid.  Too many people who are not very experienced with cichlid keeping fail to realize that even if these fish are small, they won't stay small all their life.  By getting a tank to accomodate not just physical space, but temperment too is very important.  Once that Jack Demsey grows out to be an adult, it's not going to tolerate an very large and bulky Oscar, who btw is a 14-18 inch adult sized fish, moving around in it's area.

Now you want to throw in a very milder, slower moving and less  capable of defending itself Parrot?  Again, I really would like to see a site that says mixing this group is a good idea.

That's not to say either, and why I'm saying you need about a 210 gallon tank, what massive filtration you would need as well to cope with the waste and bioload of such a large group.  Tack on a pleco, which is a very waste of space type bottom feeder, you should be filtering said tank with dual cannister filtration at the very least.

It's very hard to find a 12 inch fish to add to such a group without you mentioning the tank space.  To advise another highly aggressive SA type such as a Green Terror is such a poor choice without knowing the tank size, it's an irresponsible act.

  7. try an electric blue cichlid they look really nice in an aquarium

  8. Hi,

I have had two inch cichlids with oscars and parrot fish but i have never put them with jack dempseys so i don't know if they will get along fine. But i would not recommend putting anything smaller with the fish.

One tip which i will give you is that oscars or at least my ones will try to kill new fish so i have found a way around this what i do is take the oscars and all other fish out of the tank, and i change the ornaments then place the new fish in and leave them in for 10-15mins and then i reintroduce the oscars and other fish, the oscars then think that they are in a new tank and will not attack them.
