What good are the royal family?

What is the point of having a royal family? What good do they provide to the people/country? and why are they able to live off everyone elses tax money?

Personally i don't mind the royal family,it's the hangers-on,you know , 275th in line to the throne etc,but having a royalty only means we aren't a republic.

btw,the Queen must be the only woman that can l**k the back of her own head ha-ha!

I'm assuming you are talking about the British Royal family. I'm not British so I can't really speak. However, personally I see the British Royal family as being a living party of tradition and a symbol of England. They do a lot of really wonderful things, fundraisers, awareness, I mean just look at the work the HRH Prince William and HRH Prince Harry are continuing from Princess Diana. If I was British, I would want the Royal family to stay. Again though I'm not British, I'm American. But I'm just saying.

I don't know, really. Nothing makes them special except for the crown and the corgis! As my mother once said, their ancestors were once just farmers who got lucky and kept having kids. It's just one of those crappy assets of life.

They bring in much money for the economy with tourism. They bear the reponsibility of being the head of state and so in some ways, the monarch could be seen as the most powerful person in Britain. They lead the armed forces, and finally, they are incredibly cool!

Well i don't mind the family, it only costs a couple of pence per tax payer to uphold them. This family provides us with entetainment but more improtantly makes us unique and special. Many countries want a royal family so we should be happy we gt one.

omg im soo sick of of the royale sceptics. first of all they bring tradition and culture into a country. second of all the british brings in millions and millions of dollars every year to charity and what about the tourism industry?million of tourists(including me) come in every year to see the gaurds change and soo think of how much the british economy makes off them. the royale family   bring soo much to the society and they didnt even ask for it. they have given up having a slightly normal life soo show them some respect!

Feel sorry for the English Royal Family. They are born into a life that none of them would choose. Sadly, some of them should not be classed as royals as their fathers are not obvious. Meanwhile they laugh at their subjects (lowness) and expect to be called highness.

A Republic is the answer to the royal problem.
