What happened all the batteries died!?

Question

A few days ago the TV remote batteries died so I put new ones in they were also dead. I need to use my calculator and those batteries where dead so were the ones in my cd player, cell phone, my dads watch,my reading light,my flashlight and radio! What happened!?

Do you live near power lines? Surges in electromagnetic fields can drain batteries (very, very unlikely though). If not, E.T. probably visited your home or it's a coincidence (your choice).
