What happens after arrest????

My boyfrined and i had a 'domestic' back in january this year, police attended cos my neighbours rang them, i said i dint wanna take things further cos i luved him etc, my nose was bleeding and had a few bruises, they took pics and said its a civil matter the cps can take it furher with or without my say so...... so all this time nothin has happened they told me he was wanted...... the boyfriend was sorry etc and then has been fine till today, he accused me of cheating and he has hit me again,,,, this time i was soo mad cos i had let him off the previous time.. ive given police a statement, they have arrested him,,,, they have phoned back and said he has admitted it and has been charged, hes due in court tomorro. can anypne tell me what will happen tomorro and what sort of sentance he will get........ im not feelin really sorry for him, he can be a really nice bloke and i know he loves me like mad but has tendancies to be very jealous. i want him to be punished but not to prison

Your stuck in the middle of love and self preservation,you've already given this guy a chance before.move on with your life find someone you can be comfortable with,if we live in fear whats the point of our freedom.For your sake i hope he gets some time

You need to get away from him NOW!!!! Go to a shelter if you have to. The next time and there will be- he can kill you. The violence will continue GET AWAY FROM HIM NOW!!!!!

Tomorrow (or today) he will be asked to enter a plea, Guilty or Not Guilty. Seeing as how he's admitted it to the Police he'll probably Plead Guilty.

What happens then depends on many things. If he has a string of previous convictions including assaults on women the Magistrates may sentence him to jail straight away tomorrow. More likely however is that they will want to consider non-custody options and will therefore ask for a report from Probation.

He will be given a date to visit probation and will have to discuss things with them. They will then file a report recomending either Community Penalties or Jail and the Magistrates will decide what to do at a later date (usually 2-3 weeks from today).

As long as he doesn't have a history of violent attacks, he probably won;t get jail, but he will get a Community Penalty including working for free, visiting probation and possibly anger managment classes. He'll also have to pay court costs (£70-£200)

He sounds like a violent thug who will probably only ever change  for the worse.  I could write a book about all this and I could give you a very long and detailed lecture but I'm not going to because I thinks it will fall on deaf ears.

Dear God, woman...  instead of relying on the police and the courts to sort out your private life, wont dont you LEAVE HIM!!!

He hit you, ffs...  what more of a reason do you need?

If a man loves you, he doesnt hit you.

To answer your question, it will depend on your boyfriends previous convictions as to what the courts hand him.

You say he admitted it and got charged... so i am guessing he has previous, or he would have got a caution.  Or were your injuries really bad?

If he has loads of previous convictions to do with assault and violence, then he may get sent down.

However, seeing as our prisons are already full... more likely he will get a fine and maybe some community service.

But the best punishment you can give him, is to chuck all his stuff out on the lawn and change the locks...  but you aint gonna do that are you?

I agree with all 3 answers-please leave him as soon as possible..I was in your situation here is alilttle different the law even if you file charges for abuse the police do it for you my now ex husband was arrested for attacking me in front of my own house-I suffered permant injuries to my shouldar because of him I had a crack in my shouldar, i torn ligament in my shouldar i tore my rotar cuff in my shouldar also besides the scars i have on my arms and legs and other parts of my body that remind me each and every day of that attack...leave while your still okay...dont worry what happens to hiim s***w him!

and get out of it your self ifa man hits you 1 time he will keep on doing it,

Stop making excuses like he loves me cos i assure he dont.

if he did he would never have raised a hand to you.

even if you had cheated he should not have hit you.

leave him in the cells.
