What is Asynchronous flip?

hi guyz  i m a new member for this site plz telll me something about asychronous flip and ....aslo wht is flip and blit ..when i change my setting to flip my Fps IN cs 1.6 is 60fps...and when i change it to blit it increase with 100 but during game it comes again to 50 t0 60 fps but with no problem like  screen vibration ...like on flip setting my screen vibrates and and very difficult to play but no  lags ...and i dont have and 3d or graphic card normal p4 128 bit graphic oN board plz tell me the whole setting
