What is Grenoble like?

I'm considering attending Grenoble Ecole de Management for my B.A. Would someone be kind enough to write a brief overview of the city's architecture, natural beauty, weather, people, things to do,etc...? Thanks !

My friend and I were staying in another area of France and got cheap flights into and out of Grenoble.

I found it quite different from where we were staying ( which was around Figiac) in not only natural beauty but architechure.

THere are lots of amazing white ( now I'm not sure, they looked like limestone but I'm not a geologist) hills/mountains around the area and they are quite spectacular really with steep cliffs!!

THere are apprerently lots of skiiing in the area ( we arrived in summer so I guess thats why they were cheap flights).

The buildings kind of felt "germanesque" to me with steeper rooves ( obviously for snow) etc but the town seemed quite nice to me..in its feel.  There were some gondolas I would have loved to go on, that go up the hill to see the area, but my friend was not keen...grrrr

It seemed like a nice place in the summer time, I guess it would have a completely different feel in the winter time and probably much colder!
