Ive looked up alpinus and it generally means fruits, roots ect, as for homo sapiens that means early man in the higher levels of this planet so all in all i would say it means early man who lived on high ground but was a root or plant eater

I don't know. Maybe- a human with a mixture of a breed of a dog - <the closest> which is the Dhole or red dog.

Take a looK:

Dogs and their relatives make up the family Canidae in the order Carnivora.

The dhole is classified as Cuon alpinus.
