  1. Juan Ramón Jimenez was from a town in the province of Huelva, called Moguer.  If you are going there, find out if you will be visiting his home.  It's a tourist site, as is La Rábida, also in the province, not the city.  It is a monestary, and is where Columbus lived while petitioning Ísabel la Católica for money to finance his trip to the Indies.

  2. Are you actually going to Huelva or are you taking in the historical sights of Cristopher Columbus. They are situated close by at Palos de la Frontera. Huelva is an industrial city at the northern end of the Costa de la Luz not far from the border with Portugal. There are huge petro-chemical works on the southern end of the city. To the south of Huelva towards the Doñana National Park there are some of the finest beaches in Europe.

Huelva's football team is Recreativo de Huelva and they play in La Liga Division 1.

The area around Huelva to the east it is famous for it's strawberry fields and it's wine & bodegas such as Manzanilla. The strawberry fields stretch for mile after mile. Most of the strawberries sold in supermarkets throughout Europe come from Huelva.
