  1. Wales is a strange place. I'm sure you will get a mixed and varied response but in my personal opinion it is like this;

    North Wales is okay, the accent is slightly more abrupt and strong then South Wales. The people depending on where you go are okay but the older generation especially in the country, country will be a bit off with you if you're not welsh.

    I am originally from N.Wales Llandudno to be exact and I loved it there, it's beautiful and it has two beaches and the people are generally okay, the night life is okay but it depends on your taste.

    I now live in Japan, I still miss Llandudno but from what my friends tell me there is more polish people then Welsh people there now!

    Overall to live in Wales is good. (Depending on where you go!)

  2. I lived in Bangor at the foot of Snowdonia (a mountain) for quite a few years and later moved to the nearby island of Angelsey. The area looks fantastic, very mountainous and village-like.

    In North Wales people have revived the Welsh language after it almost died out around 1975. Supposedly, they have a curious habit of deliberately speaking Welsh whenever an English speaker arrives. I didn't encounter this that much.

    A lot of North Wales is a common holiday destination. There are castles and beaches and fishing ports and the regular tourist attractions.

    Cardiff in South Wales is a large port. I stayed there with friends. It has some nice spots, but seemed more industrial to me. Welsh is not generally spoken in the south.
