Question:

What is a Lurkers Purpose?

You can have 60 plus or minus members in your group & yet some get involved, while others do not.

What is a Lurkers Purpose? Why do they just hang there & suppossidly do nothing, not taking part in the group?

My friend & I are going to have a poll: what would be some good questions to ask them?

If only, we can get them to participate enough to take the polls.

We used to have a lot more people in our group get involved, however although we have about 50 members, none of them seem to care to get involved.......

Why does this happen? Any idea's or suggestions? Please help.

  1. I am a sever "lurker" on many groups. I go to gather information for my use (which I find is a very important goal of a group). On occasions I do have relevant information to share and I love to share it. I hope others find it as helpful as I find their information in the groups.

I also try and delete my membership to a group if I find it no longer provides anything useful or I find it is dead.

  2. lurkers may have many reasons. one might be their not too yahoo experienced, and may not know how to post from the group or e-mail

some may have forgotten they even joined

yet some lurkers are there for gaining addresses to spam.

I leave em, as long as they don't cause trouble I have no issue with lurkers.

as for a poll, hard to give suggestions not knowing the group topic :)
