What is a MV-285?

I am currently 16 (will be 17 in November) and am taking driving classes. My road test is scheduled for the middle of August. So eventually I'll have a MV-262 (20 hours of completion) and after passing my road test, I will have a Junior License. This will allow me to drive with supervision. My question is what is a MV-285 and how to obtain it? As far as I know, if I get a MV-285, I am legally allowed to drive on my own.

  1. This would be a much easier question to answer if you said what state or country you are from, that way someone from your area who has been through the process could answer your question.

But you could try looking on-line at the state or country dept of motor vehicles website and type in the form number.

    Just a thought...

  2. Note to parent/guardian: If the driver license applicant is 17 years old and has a Driver Education Student Certificate of Completion (MV-285), consent is not required.

So the MV 285 is the certificate of completion you will get at the end of your classes, and your instructor will be the source for it.
