  1. ok listen people keep asking this question and i know this bc i did the same thing.both of those guys r wrong you have to wait it out.avg doesn't want us to report it.they r trying to fix it now.so give it a day or two.

    here is what i got:

Currently the update for AVG Free v8 is corrupted... you will have to wait for AVG Technologies to address the issue with the update.

Reporting the issue again by other users here will not do any good util it is resolved.

The updates that your AVG currently have will still provide the protection it is setup to detect. In otherwords, just getting this update will not make your AVG Free ineffective and as soon as AVG Tech resolves the issue you will be able to update to the current virus definitions at that time.

So in short... please do not post to report the issue, its already known. Also please be patient until AVG Technologies can address the issue.

Also... for those user that did report the issue... thanks for the info.

    and here is the proof:

by the way don't use a system restore because it will not work.you will still have the same problem.

  3. I got the same message this AM.  I ran my AVG 8 anti-virus full scan, on completion I still got the same message, turned off my computer and back on again, received another AVG update, and the .bin message has gone, all components are working.  I asked a friend who is a computer whiz, he suggested remove/install, but the above worked ok.

  4. This is the problem which everyone is facin now,

to overcome the issue, just follow the steps

    1) go to http://www.grisoft.com/ww.download-updat...

    2) make a directory (new folder) on your desktop called AVG

    3) from the website, download AVI: 270.6.4 (right click and save target as)

    4) from the website, download IAVI: / 1616 (right click and save target as)

    5) Save the files to newly created AVG folder

    6) double click on your AVG systray icon

    7) On menu bar (top) > select tools > update from directory

    8) select the directory called AVG where you put the downloads

    9) As soon as you click that folder, your updates will start and will be complete! :)

    This solved my problem
