  1. This is movement in a fluid (air or water or some other fluid) that moves heat energy around in a system. Example would be wind blowing on your body making you feel (colder), it just carries heat away from your body.  Convection ovens work the opposite way

There are three ways heat moves around

    Conduction (direct contact of objects)

Radiation (wavelengths of energy flowing from one object to another, even through vacuum, this is how the sun heats us)

Convection ( an intermediate form carries heat energy around, like currents passing)

  2. Hmmm...well basically it's a current of hot and cold fluid going in a circular motion, like air for example.  Hot air rises and cold air sinks, the convection current here creates wind.  In the mantle hot magma rises up, cools, then sinks down, causing the plates to move.

  3. A convection current is a flow of a fluid or air due to heating and cooling of the fluid or air.  IE: Hot air rises.  Cold air falls.  If there is local heating of the air at some point, a convection current will be set up.  An on shore breeze is one example.  Here, the air that is heated by the land rises and moves out over the ocean where it is cooled and falls.  the cool air moves inland as a breeze to complete the cycle.

The Gulf Stream in the Atlantic ocean is another example.  Warm water from the Gulf of Mexico moves north along the eastern USA while cold water from the Polar region moves south along the coasts of Europe.

  4. we got this convection stove at work... it is so cool

you put your finger on it, it wont burn at aaaaaall!

you put your pot on there, and it heats up!!
