A dolphin's shelter is the ocean because it can help the dolphins breathe and swim under water.  When dolphin's are under water, they use their side and tail flippers to push themselves through the water.  Also, the ocean is full of salt water.  Salt water provides more buoyancy than fresh water.  That means it is easier for dolphins to float in salt water, and they can swim faster to escape from sharks and other predators.
