What is a florist?

I know that a florist is someone who works with flowers but i was wondering what type of job it is and what exactly it is they do. Is it a career or a job? Is there alot to know about flowers? Does it get high pay?

Firstly, the salary is generally not high, a lot of work especially during festivals like Valentines, Mothers Day, Christmas. The job entails making up bouquets, posies, pot plants for gifts. A career can be made of it with the ultimate goal of owning and operating a floral studio of your own. Yes, you do need a knowledge of flowers, plants, and decorating but all that can be learned on the job. Girls seem to make the best florists but that should not deter boys/men from doing it also.

It depends if you are a wedding florist then yes but if you are just a regular flourish then no not really it depends on the location.

It is a job most people have a nother job other then a florist

A florist is someone who designs and makes flower arrangements. Personally, I don't think it's a career that you'd really want to get into unless you are rich because there are not so many flower shops, so finding a job with good pay might be hard.

it doesnt pay high. it depends on your flowers and its more of a job than a career. a florist also can own their own business.

It can be both. You can work in a flower shop or you can be like the manager or own the shop then its a career. It can pay a lot of your really high quality and have a good reputation - like if you do expensive weddings and get a lot of business.

your right a florist works with flowers but they also sale them like in a flower shop. its also a career/ job because you can dedicate your life to working with then. there kinda alot to know about flowers it depends of what kind cause some require little sun and more water others have to stay outside, and some can't have water touch the leaves. and about pay if you work in a shop it depends on the owner wants to give you. and is you start your own business you have to figure the cost of keep flowers alive and the proper care they need.
