Flowers are the reproductive structures of angiosperm plants.  They are actually very complex and intricate structures, and it would be impossible to satisfactorily explain them here.  In short, flowers are a major achievement in plant evolution.  They are often designed to exploit animals, either in pollination or in seed dispersal.

    I would highly recommend looking through most any biology or botany textbook for more detailed information.  Flowers are really fascinating structures, and no short little description here can do them justice.  Below are some Wikipedia articles that might help to get you started, though, without textbooks.
