I should try to hit an object with my car with a glancing blow (seide sweep).

Does that mean that I have to hit the object with one of the car doors?

  1. means you almost missed

  2. Simply stated, a glancing blow means to hit the object at as shallow an angle as possible. Visualize a side-swipe; your car will glance off the other car. That angle is near zero.

  3. no a glancing blow simply means it is not a full impact  collision and is  at other end of scale. minimal damage. a side swipe Can be a glancing blow if not too much damage is done. A heavy side swipe though can result in a total write off.

normally we look at a glancing blow as something where minimal damage if any has occurred. IE I  took a glancing blow which merely stunned me but left no permanent marks. or  with physical objects. My car took a glancing blow form a lorry and I ended up with a small dent in my fender.

  4. Glancing blow, I believe means grazed, or bounced off, indirect hit, but people around me tend to mis use words, so I could be wrong

  5. Yes with you door or doors would be best to this but why would you want to to this anyway ?????
