What is a good first tattoo?

when i turn 18 i am getting a tattoo and i need peoples advice on which i should get

please don't get a tattoo just because you can. it sounds like you want one because you think they look cool, but any and all tattoos you get should be more than just aesthetic, they should have meaning. you have the rest of your life to get inked and your tastes will change. i sometimes think how happy i am i DIDN'T get a tattoo when i was younger, because when i think of what i would have gotten done, i cringe.

my general rule is to want it for a year, and only get it done after that. if

ps. if you are hellbent on getting one anyway don't get a tribal tattoo. they are ridiculous and most tattoo artists would agree

first tattoo should be great..take a look some tribal tattoo may you interest in it, out that on your armband or somewhere save..

You've made the decision to get a tattoo. You probably have seen ones that you like and ones that you don't. Soooooooo, as far as helping you decide for a 1st, I'll give you a couple of sites to show you quality:

and as far as what I think as a good 1st tattoo, well of course personal, quality, great image that is unique... to start you off with something all your own.

I like the complexity of images that have historical significance if you relate to them in the present, like Celtic knots, or images from the oldest known tattoos..

But also, I like personal humor or whims, something having to do with who you are, what appeals to you, or what is important to you, or has to do with something that you have personally gone through or over come or achieved. Only you will know what these images are and where to place them.

Also, sometimes for a 1st tattoo size matters if you are unsure of your pain threshold. But yet, sometimes because of this you might want to go for  what you want, no matter how big or expensive, knowing that you might not want to go through it again and you want to get it done and right the 1st time.

It's all up to you, who you are, ... your choice.

Take your time, don't do anything unless it's yours and you relate to it, and trust yourself more than anyone else to advise you.

Make your first tattoo special. I would suggest going with something on your back first.

It's less painful and easy to cover up.

--Within the next 15 years, there will be easy remedies of removing tattoos for a very cheap price. But still make it special

speaking froma heavily inked woman,

think about whats special to you. what has meaning to you..

it could be a symbol, zodiac sign, an animal, a sugar skull (honours the dead), a rose or heart, demons, your family etc.

i have always loved swallow tattoos.. i have one on my ankle, it represents love and loyalty to the family.. you can jaz it up by getting your artist to design it for you.

we dont know what your like, so we cant tell you what you should get, but i hope i helped..

well my first was a rose on my shoulder ..

my daughters first is going to be a rose also..

but they are not going to look alike...

remember tattoos can be removed but think carefully before you do ....

on that note i'm getting my 3rd one in a couple of weeks...
