What is a mini shotgun start?

I know shotgun start is everyone starts on different holes on the course but I have never heard of a mini-shotgun start before.

You shotgun on a few holes,  not all of them.  You would do this will small group of golfers.  You wouldnt use every hole if only 40 golfers wanted a shotgun start.

With a regular shot-gun you usually have 36 groups (2 per tee)  or at least 18 groups (1 per tee) going at the same time.  A mini-shot gun would be for fewer foursomes.

I would think that mini-shotgun is when groups start on a few different holes, most commonly with groups going off on both the front and back nine.

Have never referred to a partial shotgun start as  a " mini- shot gun". It does make sense that  a tournament where all the contestants start on different holes and do not occupy the whole course or nine be named that. Several members who own businesses do have events for their customers or employees that are mini shotguns.
