A panel presentation is normally a group of people, 3 or 4, who present aspects of a topic, usually each speaking from their experience and/or interests.   Usually someone puts the panel together by inviting each person to speak on a specific aspect (not "I'm doing a panel on old glass, do you want to participate", but "Because of your study of Tuscan glass, I would like you to cover aspects of that on a panel on Mediterranean glass")  

  For a story, one person might take characters another plot and another setting.  Or each takes a different character.
