  1. Parallax is an apparent displacement or difference of orientation of an object viewed along two different lines of sight, and is measured by the angle or semi-angle of inclination between those two lines. Nearby objects have a larger parallax than more distant objects when observed from different positions, so parallax can be used to determine distances.

  2. It is a method used by astronomers to find the distance to stars. The earth travels about 300 million kilometers in one year. You measure the base angle of an object in such a way that the objects position shifts .

In a simple explantion, you hold an object say your finger in front of eyes and close your left eye. Then open left eye and close the right eye. You will feel that the object have shifted its position.

  3. 1. the apparent displacement of an observed object due to a change in the position of the observer.

    2. Astronomy. the apparent angular displacement of a celestial body due to its being observed from the surface instead of from the center of the earth (diurnal parallax or geocentric parallax) or due to its being observed from the earth instead of from the sun (annual parallax or heliocentric parallax). Compare parallactic ellipse.

    3. the difference between the view of an object as seen through the picture-taking lens of a camera and the view as seen through a separate viewfinder.

    4. an apparent change in the position of cross hairs as viewed through a telescope, when the focusing is imperfect.

    Does that help?

  4. hey pls check out this link for parallax http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parallax

  5. As you drive along a country road you notice that the phone poles seem to move backward with respect to distant mountains.  This is a perspective effect called parallax.  As the Earth carries us around the Sun, the positions of the nearest stars exhibit a similar effect swinging back and forth along a small ellipse, which is a reflection of the Earth's orbit.

  7. put your finger 25cm in front of your nose

    now close one eye

now open it and close the other eye

Your finger appears in a different position but in fact you have not moved it.

    This is parallax

The tendency of an object to appear to be changing position when viewed through different lines of perspective.

  8. You can easily demonstrate parallax for yourself. Pick out a relatively small object on your wall, like a light switch. While looking at the object, first close one eye and then the other. Repeat this a few times and you'll notice that the object seems to shift back and forth a little. That's the parallax effect and it's caused by the distance between your eyes.

  9. Close one eye and point your finger at an object.

Without moveing your finger close the open eye and open the other.

The different viewpoint made tour finger, (or the object), appear to move.

    That's parallax.
