Question:

What is a retail check?

I applied for a job as a retail manager, so I have to get a background check. I know what a background check is, but they also said they have to do a retail check. Does anybody know what this is? Is there a company that keeps track of how you performed in previous jobs or something like that?

  1. I'm a Recruiter and have never heard of a Retail Check, unless she meant she was going to check your references at the other places your worked at which were retail companies.  The only other thing I can think of is a credit check, this is common when you perform background checks.  Personally I don't believe in a credit check to see if your a viable candidate, but companies that use this have the mentality that if you have bad credit or owe high amounts of money your more likely to steal from them.  I see it as though you really need a job, and if you were a thief you would have something on your criminal record - so that 's why I'm against them. There are no companies that keep track of all your past employment.  To check past employment they have to have your release and can only contact the employers you listed.
