  1. the moon moves in front of the sun and blocks it. looks pretty cool, dont stare directly at it tho. nothing else happens, and it only lasts for an few hours at best,

  2. No harm comes to anyone, unless they look directly at it without eye protection.  A solar eclipse is when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun.  When that happens and the alignment is right, the shadow of the Moon passes across parts of the Earth.

  3. Lol a Solar Eclipse is a great phenomenon!

Its the event where the moon passes directly infront of the sun, causing it to block the most damaging paert of the sun, so you can witness the beauty of the corona of the sun which bursts out from behind the moon - i watched the stream on the internet of it - Brilliant!

  4. it is simply the moon  moving between the earth and the sun on it's normal orbit, blocking off some of the sunlight. In a Total Eclipse it blocks off most of the light so it goes dark for a few minutes. The effect is not global - just affects some parts of the world each time (but different places depending on the moons orbit). They are normal, predictable and totally unthreatening. To witness a Total Eclipse is quite an experience, and for most people (like me) a once in a lifetime experience.

  5. No we do not die. When the moon is directly between the sun and the earth, and the moon's shadow is cast upon the earth

Like the moon will go in front of the sun and block it . It looks like theres a black hole in the sky.

  6. Celestial event during which the new Moon passes directly between the Earth and Sun, temporarily blocking the Sun's light.

You don't die because of a solar eclipse. They aren't bad... they have happened before and nothing "bad" occurred because of it.

  7. i wish i could watch a solar eclipse. i have seen plenty of lunar eclipses though

  8. A solar eclipse is just when the moon goes over the sun for a short period of time. It is not bad, and you can't die from it. It' actually quite interesting.

  9. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth so that the Sun is wholly or partially obscured. This can only happen during a new moon, when the Sun and Moon are in conjunction as seen from the Earth.

There are four types of solar eclipses:

    • A total eclipse occurs when the Sun is completely obscured by the Moon. The intensely bright disk of the Sun is replaced by the dark silhouette of the Moon, and the much fainter corona is visible. During any one eclipse, totality is visible only from at most a narrow track on the surface of the Earth.

    • An annular eclipse occurs when the Sun and Moon are exactly in line, but the apparent size of the Moon is smaller than that of the Sun. Hence the Sun appears as a very bright ring, or annulus, surrounding the outline of the Moon.

    • A hybrid eclipse is intermediate between a total and annular eclipse. At some points on the surface of the Earth it is visible as a total eclipse, whereas at others it is annular. Hybrid eclipses are rather rare.

    • A partial eclipse occurs when the Sun and Moon are not exactly in line, and the Moon only partially obscures the Sun. This phenomenon can usually be seen from a large part of the Earth outside of the track of an annular or total eclipse. However, some eclipses can only be seen as a partial eclipse, because the umbra never intersects the Earth's surface.
