  1. A strong cold front is a cold front which is associated with large temperature contrasts. This is typical for an approaching Continental Arctic (cA) air mass. They are very dry and very cold, but the other air mass, which is probably maritime tropical (mT), is warm and moist. Potent cold fronts are known for producing plenty of severe weather, including tornadoes.
