    Each row has nine beads. When something like the number 12 is entered. The person slides 2 beads on the top row to one side and 1 bead on the next row to one side. The top row represents the first digit, the second row the 2nd digit, etc.

    Mow another number is added and the beads for those numbers are moved. When all the beads in one row end up being moved, 1 bead from the next row is moved.

    It is basic adding machine. Accurate as its user and very large numbers can be totaled.

  4. Its a mechanical  calculator used by the Chinese. It has beads that corresponds to a number in tens and hundreds. It can multiply, divide, add and subtract. However the number of figures is limited.
