  1. "Issue" is an old word for a persons "children".  The phrase "He died without issue"  means he had no children.

  2. Issue is just a fancy way of saying "children."

Anyone can have children, not just aristocrats and royals!

A consort is a spouse, and when used in reference to royalty,i.e. Queen Consort or Prince Consort,it is referring to the spouse of a reigning monarch. But anyone can have a consort as well, but we don't use the term as a title, like the royals do!

  3. Black's Law Dictionary defines  the word "issue" when used with deeds as "all children who  who have descended from a common ancestor." Thus, offspring,  progeny, descent, lineage, and lineal descendants are all synonymns for issue.  When "issue" appears in deeds, the word includes "not only a child or children, but all other descendants in whatever degree."

When "issue" is used in wills, it is equivalent to the phrase "heirs of the body" and includes only legitimate issue.  Common law holds that illegitimate children may inherit from their mother, not from their father, unless the child is legitimized.  Some intestacy statues provide that an adopted child is "issue" of his or her adopted parents (p. 429).

  4. Had Issue means the married couple had children, and No Issue means the married couple did not have any children either through miscarriage or never conceieved.

The word "issue" is another way to say "offspring" and it can be used by anyone, not only children of a monarch or nobleman.

A consort is a spouse of royalty either a King, Queen or a reigning Prince/Princess. Examples of royal consorts include:

    Queen consort

    King consort

    Prince consort

    Princess consort
