always i had a question about defining values in societies and if we can have global values extended to the world wide .

what is bad ?

the religious learning defined so many things as bad and others as good ,some other better to do ,and another better not to do ,some of ideologies as socialism, radicalism, feminism ,and isms as it also defined bads and good ,any way the main q is how human define things as bad or good and who define boundaries ,just 2 centuries ago before froid the relatives were more restricted ,but now for you to grow other man baby that your wife made of him may just some bother you .so many teens get pregnant without even know who is their babies dad and of course government is care of baby ,in Marxism we define bad is some thing that treat your benefit at certain time of doing ,it means killing for example is not bad if not killing treat your benefit ,then just my ask is who define what is bad ? is it our mind ,our moral ,our nature or our mind leaders or what?

  1. Who defines what is murder.  In the US people want assisted suicide to be legalized, some consider this murder, likewise with abortion.  So is this murder?  Should it be treated as murder?  How do we define good and bad when we can't even agree on these issues?

To a solider murder is not "bad" it is their job.  They are expected to do it.  Likewise to a police officer if it comes down to it.

Bad?  We tell children they are being bad all the time.  "don't do that it is bad for you..." when they do something like pick their gum up off the floor and stick it back in their mouth, or we may say guns are bad to our 10 year old child while the parent down the street is proudly teaching their child to hunt and teaching their child about gun safety.

Having another man's baby--Some places if a man and woman can not conceive then they will purposely have another man sleep with the woman in order to conceive--this is not considered bad.

Ultimately what is bad to one person may not be to another therefore, defining what is bad is nearly impossible!

  2. Bad can be as various as the definitions: there really are no rules or boundaries to contain it adequately. Bad can range from picking your nose in public, to willfully leading a country to self-destruction with an attitude of righteous morality that must never be questioned, self-assured that religion-based values are always correct, blind and impervious to fact-based criticism, constrained only by a hermetically sealed directive for secrecy.

  3. I think that the question of what is bad is more philosophical in its territory than it is sociological.

There are some things that are worse than others- murder is the ultimate evil, but things like stealing, lying, or verbal abuse are lesser evils. And this isn't predicated upon the Bible (although I am a Christian man), because in God's eyes, all sins are equally bad. I think that the degree to which something is bad is measured by how much damage is caused by that individual's actions or omissions- especially when harm comes to human beings or other animals.

  4. to say that something is bad or good is up to the person.....its a subjective matter.....but then, since modern society has agreed that things i.e. littering is bad.......then that is how people see it.....its just a point of view really......there are no absolute right or wrong in this world.....and that is where religions come in......religions are beliefs that people hold strong to in their heart......different religions have different beliefs on things......and so the world goes........that my friend is how the world is.......i leave the rest to you.......

  5. opposite of good.

  6. Bad is defined by culture.  What is "bad" in one culture, may be "good" in another.
