What is black ice?

it is ice on the road that you can't see. like on a black top. this makes it harder to see and causes a lot of accidents.

Its Ice on the road that the drivers cant see, especailly at night. thats why its so dangerous! hope that helped ^^

its clear ice that forms on streets and highways that drivers cant see because it just makes the road look dark or wet.  it usually forms on sunny windy days when the sun warms the road surface enough to just melt the snow blowing accross which then re-freezes, in town it can be caused by moisture coming out car exhausts freezing on the street.

It isn't black, it's transparent, and therefore doesn't show up on the tarmac surface of roads. It is very dangerous for motorists, and they know it as black ice.

Its very thin ice thats on roads. B/c its so thin its completely transparent (giving it the black color of the road) so drivers do not notice it and it becomes very dangerous.
