  1. Copyright – symbolized "©" – is a legal concept, enacted by most governments, giving the creator of an original work exclusive rights to it, usually for a limited time. Generally, it is "the right to copy", but also gives the copyright holder the right to be credited for the work, to determine who may adapt the work to other forms, who may perform the work, who may financially benefit from it, and other, related rights. It is an intellectual property form (like the patent, the trademark, and the trade secret) applicable to any expressible form of an idea or information that is substantive and discrete.

  2. It is legal statement given to a person or the Company. For instance, most websites have Copyrights, unless it is a personal site. What that means is, no other person/company can have the same domain as the original site. No content of Copyrighted site can be published to other site.

    Copy - Rights!!!

  3. It's like a patient on written words or images.

  4. yup we all have copyright for our writings/songs/etc.

it does not have to be applied for like a patent.

  5. A copyright is the exclusive legal right to reproduce, publish, sell, or distribute the matter and form of something (such as a literary, musical, or artistic work).

(Yes, it is similar to a "patent", but a "patient" is a sick person, animal, etc.)
