  1. Digital Light Projection - DLP.  It uses mirrors to reflect light from a lamp onto a Screen.

Movie theaters have been using the technology for over 15 years now, so the technology eventually moved into the consumer realm once it became affordable....it's pretty reliable technology, short of the fact it uses a mercury vapor lamp in it....

But they will be replacing that lamp and the color wheel with Lasers this Christmas, which will make it even MORE RELIABLE.....

  2. I believe all TVs manufactured in the past 12 months have a digital tuner and are thus equipped to receive digital signals.

DLP TVs are much bulkier than plasma or LCDs but are also more affordable.  Having the lamp burn out on a DLP is the most common problem with them but unlike many other types of TV it's the kind of repair the average person (who is a bit of a DYI type) can make the repair themselves. The lamps/bulbs themselves can be pricey though.

  3. i belive soo

  4. DLP is a relatively new projector technology from texas instruments that uses millions of tiny mirrors on a chip to reflect beams of colored light onto a screen.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DLP and http://www.dlp.com/ for more info.

If you want to get digital tv signals off the air, you need a digital tv tuner. Not all HDTVs have these built in.
